MMAFighting reported Wednesday CM Punk will go under the knife. He will be having surgery on his back which has “always bugged” him. CM Punk compared the surgery to former heavyweight champion Cain Velasquez’s recent surgery.
CM Punk appeared on UFC television and online streaming service at his future opponent’s fight. After Mikey Gall beat Mike Jackson on Saturday, he and CM Punk stood in the octagon posing together. CM Punk also spoke to a fox sports reporter backstage about wanting to fight in July at UFC 200.
The surgery should cause a delay in his debut but CM Punk will have time to fight in 2016. The recovery time is four to six weeks according to CM Punk.
Also on Wednesday, the betting line for Punk/Gall opened up. CM Punk opened at a +260 underdog.
Mickey Gall was a -380 favorite.
