Dean Ambrose Cashes In And Becomes NEW WWE World Heavyweight Champion

They say what happens in Vegas, stays in Vegas. They are not always correct. Last night, at the WWE Money In The Bank live special on the WWE Network from Las Vegas, Dean Ambrose won the Money in the Bank Ladder Match to become the new holder of the Money In The Bank Briefcase. With that win Ambrose guaranteed himself a shot at the WWE World Heavyweight Champioship whenever he wanted to cash in the opportunity. Following the finish of  the main event of the night, a battle between Seth Rollins and Roman Reigns for the WWE World Heavyweight Championship, Ambrose cashed in and won his first ever WWE World Heavyweight Championship. Who did he cash in on? Scroll down to find out the answer.

Just moments before Dean Ambrose would cash in his Money In The Bank Briefcase to win his first WWE World Heavyweight Championship, Seth Rollins cleanly defeated Roman Reigns to win his second WWE World Heavyweight Championship. Seth would not get to celebrate the victory long. Just moments after winning the championship the theme for Ambrose came blaring over the sound system at T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas, Nevada. Rollins faced the entrance area, looking for Ambrose. Rollins was ready for the cash in, or so he thought. From behind, Ambrose blasted Rollins with the briefcase, cashed in and then finished off Rollins with Dirty Deeds to win the WWE World Heavyweight Championship.

McConnell Musings: I personally loved the finish and love it more looking back at it. I am a huge fan of both Rollins and Ambrose and I was a huge fan of the Shield. To think that all three men that were in the Shield all officially held the WWE World Heavyweight Championship at some point last night is mind blowing! It is the kind of moment that only having the Money In The Bank Briefcase around can create. As some call for the end of the MITB Briefcase, I say keep it around and keep moments like these coming!

Date Set For 2016 WWE Draft

WWE officially announced that the 2016 WWE Draft will take place on Tuesday, July 19, 2016. The draft will air live on WWE Smackdown on the USA Network. July 19th is also the first night of Smackdown going live full-time and moving to Tuesday nights permanently. As part of the announcement WWE said that a General Manager from Raw and a General Manager from Smackdown would make the selections of who would wrestle on either Raw or Smackdown from that point on.

McConnell Musings: I am glad we finally have the date set. Rumors had bounced around saying the draft would take place most likely on either July 11th or 18th. This move sets the date in stone and also makes the the first episode of the new era of Smackdown a can’t miss episode. It was also nice that WWE finally what we all knew already that both brands will have their own general managers. Shane, Steph, Triple H, somebody else? That we don’t know yet. Let the mock drafts begin!

WWE Looking To Bring In Veteran Talent

According to many different sources, mainly Dave Meltzer, WWE is interested in bringing in many of the former performers to help fill out the rosters of both Raw and Smackdown once the roster split goes into full effect. Names such as Kurt Angle, Goldberg, Rey Mysterio, John Morrison, Jeff Hardy, Carlito, and more are starting to be circulated as perhaps being contacted by WWE about a  return. Some of these performers are under contract to other companies so take this one with a grain of salt.

McConnell Musings: I love and hate this rumor. Would I love to see some of the above names listed get one last run in WWE? Of course I would. Do I want this roster split to turn into a Return of the Former WWE Stars Tour? NO! I want this brand split to allow new superstars to be created and allow those that haven’t had a chance to shine to be able to do so. If the older stars are being brought in to help raise up the new, future stars then great. If they are being brought in to be at the top of the card just because of their name value then I am against it.

On his way to the ring last night to face AJ Styles at WWE Money In The Bank, John Cena wore his new, Pabst Blue Ribbion inspired t-shirt. The shirt was a source of controversy recently as WWE pulled the t-shirt and released a modified version when Pabst let it be known they did not approve. The two sides have come to an agreement as Cena tweeted the above pic and thanked Pabst for giving it approval. Cena then lost to Styles thanks to some help from The Club.
